Why Live In… The Landmark
August 21, 2012
As Young London manages a number of properties in The Landmark I thought it would be appropriate to create a small guide to show off a few things that the surrounding area has to offer.
Choosing where to live is a big decision and so often it’s not just what the property offers but also what the local area has going for it that attracts people to living there.
This guide should help you to decide if the area around The Landmark might just be the place for you!
The Landmark is located in Canary Wharf, the financial heart of London and the UK.
The nearest station to The Landmark is South Quay, on the DLR, and is just a short walk down the road. Nearby is also the Canary Wharf station, Jubilee line, and is only 600 metres away.
Canary Wharf is the beating heart of the UK’s economy and is home to a large number of World & European HQ’s for some of the worlds largest financial and legal companies. As befits this profile Canary Wharf has become synonymous with wealth and a high quality of living. Renting here means you are in the heart of one of the newest and best kept districts within London.
Canary Wharf provides everything that you will ever need as well as a few things that you probably didn’t even know you wanted! Living in the area is an aspiration for many, especially those that work within one of the many corporations present in the area who are often keen to live as close to their office as possible.
Food & Drink:
Aston’s Bar on the South Quay offers a selection of Mediterranean cuisine and has an extensive drinks list which is served within their stylish art deco surroundings which channel a bygone era. All Bar One is part of a well known chain of bars and because of this you know the type of service you will be getting before you even enter. All Bar One is a vibrant city centre bar where you can eat, drink and escape the stresses of the day with friends and colleagues.
The high-design interior of Plateau Restaurant is all gleaming steel lamps, white chairs and marble-topped tables which provides an understated sophisticated atmosphere in which to enjoy your meal. A favourite with the well-dressed locals from the Canary Wharf offices it is a great place for a business lunch or for an intimate dinner date. Gaucho boasts a superb riverside location, with great views over the water. A large summer terrace provides an area for guests enjoy alfresco drinking & dining whilst watching the world go by.
With many great films being released every year it is always a bonus to have a cinema on your doorstep and with the Canary Wharf branch of Cineworld this is exactly what you will have when living in The Landmark. Some people might not consider working out as entertainment but it can be and with a great Virgin Active and the high tech Reebok close by there are few excuses not to try out some of the great classes and facilities. When the days grow shorter and nights get colder the one solace is that in Canary Wharf the Winter Ice Rink will open to provide enjoyment for all. For the summer months there is an open air screen which will screen some sporting events and films for free.
When living in Canary Wharf you will be truly spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping due to the four different shopping centres which collectively provide you with a huge choice of outlets to shop in. Some of the big names that can be found while shopping at one of these Canary Wharf Centres include; Bang & Olufsen, Hugo Boss, Pandora and many, many more.
Close to The Landmark is also a Waitrose for all your grocery needs which is great as Waitrose is well known for providing high quality items and brilliant customer service. Also within The Landmark development is a Tesco Metro that is extremely handy when you only need to pick up a few essential items.
