Looking Ahead to RESI 2014
September 2, 2014
Young Group is again gearing up for the annual Property Week RESI conference, where we will again be sponsoring the RESI Café. We will also be providing conference delegates with a must read publication in the form of the latest edition of our biannual PRSupdate.
But we’re not the only ones looking ahead to the event. Cathy Fuller, Head of Events at Property Week, is here to provide us with a rundown of the latest preparations for, arguably, the most important date in the UK residential calendar.
RESI, the UK’s premier residential property market conference, is back for its eighth year and with our best line up yet.
I am proud to say that between September 10-12 the Celtic Manor, host location of the 2014 RESI Conference, will welcome more than 1,000 delegates from across the investment and development sectors; providing a forum for intellectual debate and unrivalled networking opportunities.
As usual, the RESI conference kicks off on the Wednesday (September 10) with the RESI Golf Tournament and a new Networking Activity Day. The Networking Activity Day will be include various events such as a 4×4 off-road challenge and air rifle shooting.
The morning events are followed by the Welcome Drinks from 6pm where all the delegates can mingle and get to know one another. All the first day events are great opportunities to meet, and network with, other delegates in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
Then across Thursday and Friday the RESI conference will take place in earnest. The conference will present a unique examination of topical housing issues, focusing on the political, economic and market outlook for the residential sector. Delegates will be able to attend break-out sessions concentrating on niche and topical elements of the residential sector. These sessions have been divided into four clear themes:
- Public Land – how to get our hands on it!
- The House Builder and Housing Association perspective
- The Evolution of the PRS in the UK
- Supply Solutions: Modern Methods of Construction
We’re pleased that this year’s RESI Conference will be Chaired and Hosted by Mark Easton, BBC Home Editor. Joining Mark over the two day programme will be a variety of speakers, including:
- Brandon Lewis MP (Minister of State for Housing and Planning)
- Mark Prisk MP (Former Minister of State for Housing and Local Government 2012-2013)
- Liz Peace (Chief Executive at British Property Federation)
- Richard Blakeway (Deputy Mayor for Housing, Land and Property of the Greater London Authority)
- Peter Bolton King (Global Residential Director at RICS)
We are also pleased that, due to its popularity last year, the RESI Poken device will be making a return. The Poken device allows delegates to digitally exchange contact details with just a touch (ending the need to carry around a wad of business cards). Also, by touching special sticker “tags” throughout the conference delegates will be able to digitally download and store special content, including Young Group’s latest edition of their biannual PRSupdate publication.
With such a great line-up of topics, speakers and events it’s unsurprising that the vast majority of delegate passes have already been snapped up, with only a limited number of places remaining.
The appetite for RESI highlights the fact that there’s a stronger than ever need for an event of this kind that brings together leaders from the residential and house building markets under one roof. It provides the industry with an opportunity to assess core issues, developments and opportunities.
Even if you are not able to attend RESI then you can still stay abreast of all the latest conference news via our dedicated Twitter account (@RESIevent) or through the hashtag #RESICon14. You can also join in the conversation on our LinkedIn Group.
